Today we are taking a look at one of the more interesting and customizable feats out there. Today we’re taking a look at martial adept feat dnd 5e this feat is found in the players handbook and you know honestly it’s one of those ones that in order to do properly. In any case let’s take a full look at the description so you can kind of get what i’m talking about.

Description

First and foremost it’s worth noting that there is no prerequisite that’s pretty great meaning anyone if any class can take it and you know what everyone of any class should take a look at it and i’ll explain why. The feat description reads as followed.

You have martial training that allows you to perform special combat maneuvers. You gain the following benefits: You learn two maneuvers of your choice from among those available to the Battle Master archetype in the fighter class. If a maneuver you use requires your target to make a saving throw to resist the maneuver’s effects, the saving throw DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength or Dexterity modifier (your choice).

You gain one superiority die, which is a d6 (this die is added to any superiority dice you have from another source). This die is used to fuel your maneuvers. A superiority die is expended when you use it. You regain your expended superiority dice when you finish a short or long rest.

Wow that’s a wordy one. Let’s break that down in just a little bit so we understand kind of what we’re talking a little bit more. So first and foremost you learn two maneuvers of your choice from among those available to the battle master archetype in the fighter class. And there’s a lot you got commander strike, disarming attack, Distracting strike, evasive footworkfeinting attack, goading attack, lunging attack, maneuvering attack, menacing attack, parry, precision attack, pushing attack, rally, riposte, sweeping attack and trip attack.

Oh my goodness if there’s a saving throw involved you also got to determine your DC by the number eight plus your proficiency bonus plus your strength or dex mod and that’s your choice and you gain a superiority die in this case a die six and you gain that back on a short or long rest. That being said, let’s get into my personal thoughts.

Thoughts

I love this one, honestly i am 100% a huge fan of this. This is an incredibly strong feat for almost every build i can consider conceiving. Now naturally as some of them are a little bit better than others. For example in my opinion the one class that gains the absolute most bang for your buck would actually be the battle master themselves.

An extra two maneuvers at plus an extra superiority die it is a hugely versatile with them and just because they have so many options they can pull from. A close second to that would probably be the rogue or even in some cases the monk. Reason being they’re both dex based fighters. They also lacked some combat flexibility namely the assassin, rogue the scout rogue and any of the monks that doesn’t specialize in spell cast him.

So this is a great way to add a little bit diversity to your playstyle and just give you some more options moving forward and the fact that it actually technically scales with your level and modifiers make it an even better choice. In terms of which abilities you are gonna pick you know it comes down to play style. That’s why i really like this one you know there’s that there’s a maneuver for just about any type of player out there.

Conclusion
