Today we are taking a look at one of the more nuanced defeats out there, still pretty good though. Today we’re gonna be taking a look at medium armor master feat this guy is found in the player’s handbook and it is one of the more overlooked feats sadly and i’ll kind of explain why that is in the future here. Description
It might be worth noting that there is a prerequisite and that is that you have to be proficient with medium armor. So take that for what you will. The description reads as followed.
You have practiced moving in medium armor to gain the following benefits: Wearing medium armor doesn’t impose disadvantage on your Dexterity (Stealth) checks. When you wear medium armor, you can add 3, rather than 2, to your AC if you have a Dexterity of 16 or higher. Fantastic stuff! Let’s break that down a little bit.
Walkthrough
So you know, no more disadvantage in stealth and even given. The +1 additional AC essentially is pretty good as well, you know it’s your AC plus your modifier plus three now instead of just the two. I think that’s pretty good stuff, in any case let’s take a look at my personal thoughts on this.
Thoughts
You know i am kind of torn. Personally i can’t really think of a whole lot of uses for this one. Outside of maybe dex based stealth orientated fighters that could be a beneficial but outside of that i can’t really think of anything. Like all of the quarter casters or half casters will be able to get a much more significant AC bump by doing something like shield.
So i’m not too sure if the +1 to AC is really worth it. I don’t know i’m not super sold on this one personally, who knows maybe i’m wrong.
