Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the sixth combat maneuvers 5e today we’re going to be taking a look at goading attack 5e i find this one to be incredibly useful. It’s i want to say he’s probably one of my top fives for sure.

Description
When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to attempt to goad the target into attacking you. You add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll, and the target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the target has disadvantage on all attack rolls against targets other than you until the end of your next turn.
Really, really cool stuff! There’s a creative way of using this that i haven’t really heard anyone talking about. So i’d like to get into that to the overview. That being said, let’s take a look. You can also read this what is the bait and switch maneuver in d&d?
Overview
So it essentially breaks down to when hitting a creature so after you’ve known the attacks already gonna hit which is super great. You can choose to expend a superiority dice 5e. You add the role to your damage and the target must succeed on a wisdom save or have disadvantage on attacks on target other than you and that’ll last until the end of your next turn.
Meaning you get this attack and then one more after or a set of attacks with a multi attack. Is goading attack good? But anyways the thing about this that i think makes it so good, is that it’s two. So firstly it’s when you hit a creature meaning after you already know you hit it you can decide to boost your damage and add an extra effect. And the other thing that makes it so good is it doesn’t specify what kind of weapon. What that means is you can have a archer used goading attack 5e dc and cause the creature which is most likely surrounded by your melee characters to only be albe to attack with disadvantage.
I think that is incredibly useful. Outside of that it’s also great for drawing aggro as well if you are a heavier AC tank your character. So i really like that. This combat maneuver uses a lot of interesting mechanics and i really would consider looking at it regardless of what kind of battle master planning on playing.
