Today we’re looking at dnd 5e menacing attack I really like this one especially during i will encounter where there’s only one enemy to it makes this super useful. Description
When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to attempt to frighten the target. You add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll, and the target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, it is frightened of you until the end of your next turn.
Really really good stuff! I really like this cuz the frightened condition is one of the best in the game. That being said, let’s take a look at the overview and break this down a little bit further. You can also check out what is the trip attack maneuver in 5e?
Overview
Essentially when you hit, you can expend a dnd superiority die. Add the total to your damage. The target must succeed a wisdom save or be frightened of you until the end your next turn.
So essentially you’ve got this barrage of attacks, your whole party takes attacks and then you take another barrage nd then it’s over. What i love about the frightening condition as a whole is it kind of reads as follwoed. Do you know what is the difference between brace and riposte 5e?
Disadvantage on checks and attack rolls while it can see you and it can’t willingly move closer to you. Now this is great if you’re a melee fighter or a arranged one. For a number of reasons, so a couple things that make this maneuver particularly great is it when you hit, so you don’t have to worry about missing your attack. what is the bait and switch maneuver in d&d?
It adds the total to your damage which is nice and it also doesn’t specify what kind of a weapon attack you need to make. Meaning it can be a magic weapon attack with green flame blade perhaps. So if you ranged and as most cases your allies happen to be closer to you than they’re to the creature, they can’t actually move closer to your allies as well. Really good stuff! In addition to that every time the creature tries to do anything. Also read menacing attack vs trip attack bg3.
It does so it is with disadvantage this is perfect for say i don’t know launching a fireball at it for example that’s a really good use. So i really like this one, i really do i think it’s great. The only real downside to it is that it only affects one creature but most of these do anyways, so that’s not really a downside it’s just kind of an oversight for the class as a whole. how does sneak attack work 5e.
