Hello adventurers and dungeon masters of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 23rd boon in our epic boons 5e series. Today we’re gonna be taking a look at boon of the stormborn which is in a lot of ways quite similar to boon of the fire soul which isn’t inherently a bad thing if anything i think boon of the stormborn at least in part is a little bit better. That being said, let me explain why and kind of get to the core of this boon over in the mechanics section.

Mechanics
You have immunity to lightning and thunder damage. You can also cast thunderwave (save DC 15) at will, without using a spell slot or any components.
So in the case of boon of the fire soul it was fire damage immunity and burning hands as the boon of the stormborn spells. The reason i think boon of the stormborn is a little bit better is between the two immunity types you actually cover quite a lot of bases. In particular a lot of magic spells that might otherwise mess you up pretty good. I mean i guess the damage potential fire is still higher but i think having two immunities is always better than having one personally. You may also like to read minor boons 5e.
Thunderwave in my opinion is a little bit more useful spell than buring hands. In addition to the 2d8 damage, in addition to the pushing of 10 feet, you also gain the benefit of the 300 feet of unaudible boon.
So i think it’s pretty cool! Honestly i think it’s a little bit better, i understand you guys might disagree but personal thought. Speaking of thoughts let’s take a look at mine on this particular boon.
Thoughts
I would probably allow it in my game, so long as it was temporary. I feel like this is a permanent boon might be a little bit too good. I really like using lightning damage, i think thunder damage is awesome. So this would kind of remove two of my favorite damage types from the game and i really would like that. So i’d probably leave it as a temporary boon at best. So yeah that’s just my personal thoughts on it.
Or i’d make it so you could have these immunities but you were also weak to fire and poison i think that’d be a fair compromise kind of balance it out that ways. Kind of a give and take scenario.
