Hello adventurers and DMs of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 10th boon in our epic boons 5e series. Today we’re gonna be taking a look at dnd 5e boon of magic resistance this one is pretty much exactly what it sounds like in all honesty not super original but super practical in terms of application.
If you’re unfamiliar i highly recommend checking out our familiar series and you’ll find that a lot of the variant familiars actually offer this trait just for partnering up with you so i’d highly recommend at the very least if you can’t get the boon look into getting the familiar so. In any case let’s take a look at mechanics and just talk about it for a little bit.

Mechanics
You have advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Once again literally just magic resistance, i think it’s really cool and really useful in those campaigns where you’re playing a character that can’t inherently wear armor and doesn’t get natural resistance as part of its class features. So i would probably allow this in game. Let’s flush that a little bit better down beneath under my personal thoughts. Thoughts
In terms of how i would best execute or implement this into a game, i feel like a fair way to get this boon would be to destroy a magical artifact that offers magic resistance and you get that trait as reward of sorts for destroying that item. I think that probably the easiest way to implement it should your character have one of those variant familiars and should they die in a tragic way that wasn’t preordained and you just genuinely feel bad. I feel like this would be a great consolation prize to give them, something to the effect of their familiar appears in a spectral form and hugs them one last time or something like that and the souls kind of merge you know i think that’d be a great way to implement this into a game.
