Acid Splash 5E Spell

Hello there magic practitioners of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook. We’re gonna way through the cantrips are starting off with acid splash 5e might as well go alphabetical right! So acid splash pretty cool, not the nest in most cases but in some cases it’s pretty cool, all right!

It is usable by the wizard and the sorcerer spell lists. So if you’re a magic initiate you can grab it too, bards can grab it too, arcane tricksters are those first couple levels could probably NAB it as well. It is found in the players handbook so everyone should be able to look this one up if they need to.

Mechanics

  • Level: Cantrip
  • Casting Time: 1 Action
  • Range/Area: 60 ft
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: Instantaneous
  • School: Conjuration
  • Attack/Save: DEX Save
  • Damage/Effect: Acid

As far as the mechanics are concerned i like most cantrips or i like most damage cantrips. It scales with level……So at first the level it’s 1d6 and you get an additional d6. At 5th level, at 11th level, 17th level for a grand total of 4d6 by the end of it. The cast time is one action which is standard. The range is 60 feet which is okay, there are worse that they’re certainly better.

The duration is instantaneous meaning the second job is done. It just disappears. The saving throw is dexterity meaning if they make the save they don’t take any damage. The components are both a somatic and verbal meaning you have to gesture with your hands and speak with your mouth. The school is conjuration and the damage type if you haven’t guessed it is acid. Now let’s take a quick description of it so that we can all get to know what does acid splash do d&d?.

Description

Just a simplified a little bit. You hurl a bubble of acid and it explodes on contact with an enemy or a creature particularly. Choose one or two creatures you can see within range. If you choose two, they must be within 5 feet of each other. A target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 1d6 acid damage (check out 5e spells that do acid damage). This spell’s damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6).

What’s really cool about it is you can actually hit more than one person get it to people with it. So essentially you throw it at one and burns and hits a second one. They have to be around 5 feet apart from each other, anymore and it really won’t work. Now this is really useful in narrow enclosed spaces, a lot of dungeons would probably make good use of it anywhere there’s corridors or hallways really it could be really useful there. Don’t forget to check out our other articles like poison spray 5e, acid and acid spray.

Alternative Uses

As far as alternative uses are concerned acid splash struggle with this a little bit. Reason being that word creatures it’s really a pain in my neck. But i came up with the couple, so if you accidentally kill someone or murder them or whetever hopefully it’s just an accident but i don’t know whatever. I would let the party member cast acid splash on the corpse. And in doing so essentially just disintegrated. Visit this article on fire bolt 5e.

Now there’s a lot of people on one use it on safes and another things like locked doors you can’t. You can however use it to check for mimics, i thought that was kind of cool, i would also let someone kind of torture person and disfigure their face as a result.

Right! kind of one of those, i can help you get out of this prison but to prevent from slowing me down or prevented us from getting busted, i’m gonna have to fix your face kind of like little awful evil kind of character right! I don’t know, i thought it could be funny, might not be explaining that in the best way but who knows. Also read chill touch 5e.
