Today we’re gonna be taking a look at what is the boon of spell mastery? i really like this one honestly i like how it plays out mechanically and i think there’s a ton of good ways to incorporate mechanically. That being said, it’s kind of implies exactly what it is which was cool. Let’s take a look at its mechanics to better kind of get a feel for it.

Mechanics
Choose one 1st-level sorcerer, warlock, or wizard spell that you can cast. You can now cast that spell at its lowest level without expending a spell slot.
Really good stuff! a couple of things to note is it doesn’t eat up the material component as well and it doesn’t specify out will so you still have all the components at play is what i’m saying. I really like it, basically in more ways than not adds another cantrip to your repertoire, which is very cool stuff very cool indeed. Let’s get to my personal thoughts on it though. Thoughts
I would allow this in my game almost without hesitation. It’s not actually particularly game breaking to be honest with you. The reason i say that is at higher levels cantrips typically do more damage than almost any of the first level spells could, so i just really think it’s neat (check out seperate article on most powerful damage spell 5e). Also read this boon of high magic.
In terms of good choices if you’re a character, the one that really comes to mind is catapult in all honesty. It’s a fantastic spell and i find it to be quite underused just because it’s kind of a one-shot deal. But i love it, so i picked that one in my case. There’s a couple other good ones like absorb element comes to mind cause fear comes to mind but ice knife would a really good one as well man that should be ton of good ones. Do not miss this legendary boons 5e.
In terms of cool ways to incorporate into your game for your DMs out there, i would certainly allow this as a reward for killing the big bad or destroying a certain evil magical item or magical item in general. As well as like cool, i’d make this a permanent blessing from like a deity for either helping or defeating them i think that’d be cool!
