Hello adventurers and DMs alike welcome to another episode of our epic level boon series. Today will be the fifth boon we’re taking a look at and it’s one of the more exciting ones and i really like it. Today we’re gonna be taking a look at boon of high magic 5e. Out of all the boons we’ve covered i want to say this one is by far the most powerful one we’ve covered. But it makes sense thematically for a lot of characters out there. That being said, let’s take a look at the mechanics.

Mechanics
You gain one 9th-level spell slot, provided that you already have one.
So this is quite literally aimed at those high level casters, i really like it, i think it makes a lot of sense and i can think of tons but i mean tons of ways to implement this into your game. That i don’t think it’s super broken either because at that level, ninth level spells aren’t gonna be a super, you’re gonna be able to cast one already right…so what’s one more spell slot. I mean i know that’s the difference between a wish spell and a ninth level fireball i get that but by the same token you know i could think of more broken boons. Let’s take a look at my personal thoughts on it now. You may also like to read minor boons 5e.
Thoughts
I think this would make incredible sense as a reward for destroying something like the hand of vecna or eye of vecna those two items in particular, the reason being vecna is a ridiculously high level caster so it makes sense from a thematic element for you to cast the hand into the pits of mordor for lack of a better analogy and have that black ash rise up and surround around you and bless you with the ability to cast another ninth level spell slot. I could also see this as a great reward for defeating an evil lich and you’re able to communicate with his spirit prior to him becoming a lich right! and in that spiritual form he blesses you with all of his knowledge. I just think there’s a lot of cool ways to mix it into the game. Also check out homebrew boons 5e.
