Today we’re going to be taking a look at one of the cooler ones in my opinion we’re going to be looking at chilling hex 5e. Let’s take a look at the description here and kind of just at least what we’re talking about. However you can also read what is the voice of the chain master?
Description
First and foremost there’s a prerequsite and that is that your patron has to be the hexblade, so you gotta be the hexblade warlock and it reads as followed.
As a bonus action, you cause frost to swirl around a target cursed by your Hexblade’s Curse, dealing cold damage to each of your enemies within 5 feet of the target. The cold damage equals your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).
Really really cool stuff! I like this one quite a bit, i think thematically it makes a lot of sense. In any case lets take a look at the overview here. Also read what is the devil’s sight spell?
Overview
So basically use a bonus action to cause cold damage (= CHA MOD) to creatures within 5 feet of the target effected by hexblades curse.
Now an interesting thing about this is i’m not 100% sure that it affects the cursed target at all. It specifies targets within 5 feet of them, they’re within five feet of themselves so maybe but i don’t think so. I’ll run a past to your DM get their ruling and see what’s going on there. Conclusion
That being said, i really like this one. I don’t find it to be particularly overwhelming or broking, i think it’s pretty fair what it is. There’s curses like this as well in the core rules i don’t think this is particularly broken.
