Mind Spike 5E Spell

Today we have a really cool in store for us, today we’re looking at mind spike 5e dnd. This amazing spell is usable by the sorcerer, warlock and wizard and it is found in the xanathar’s guide to everything book which is just great honestly tons of good stuff in there so if you don’t have it already i would highly recommend getting it. This spell lends itself to a very unique playstyle and we’ll go over that in a little bit here. But first let’s check out its mechanics so we know exactly what we’re talking about.

  • Duration: 1 Hour (Concentration)
  • School: Divination
  • Attack/Save: WIS Save
  • Damage/Effect: Psychic

Your damage die is a 3d8 plus an additional d8 per each spell slot level above 2nd. The effect at a glance is as followed: On a failed save, you know the targets location until the spell ends. The cast time is one action, the range is 60 feet, the duration is one hour and it is a concentration spell. The components are just somatic which is great means you can do it well silenced or what have you. Also read this mind flayer 5e.

The saving throw is a wisdom based one and on a success they take half a damage and there’s no tracking. The school is divination and the damage type is psychic which isn’t too surprising. Description

You reach into the mind of one creature you can see within range. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw, taking 3d8 psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. On a failed save, you also always know the target’s location until the spell ends, but only while the two of you are on the same plane of existence. While you have this knowledge, the target can’t become hidden from you, and if it’s invisible, it gains no benefit from that condition against you.

At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 2nd. Apart from this you can also check out is bane a good spell 5e.

Very good stuff! So once again, this does lend itself to a very particular playstyle and that is one of a ruthless hunter one that will not let their prey escape at any cost which is pretty cool way to look at it. Alternative Uses

So one of the cooler ones is using this to make sure plans can go off without a hitch. Hit a person with this early on in the day do it stealthy cuz you don’t have to make any noise for it right, so do it while you’re hidden and then kind of just keep track of them throughout the day make sure they’re in the right place, at the right time and then bam execute that plan. Outside of that, you could also use this for tracking a fool through a maze or labyrinth or some form of complicated area right like a force should be a good example or just a very large space.

Outside of that this is a great spell to use if someone tries to disappear or run away from you. Not just for the aforementioned reasons but also because you know the ability to both do damage and completely nullify the hiding action and invisibility is super great, it’s kind of like two spells in one and a lot of sense, so i think it’s something definitely worth considering putting into your arsenal.
