Today we are looking at one of the most whimsical spells in these early levels. Not to mention one of the most thematically interesting spells. Today we are taking a look at the one and only misty step 5e spell.
It is usable by the sorcerer, warlock and the wizard and it is found in the good old players handbook. So we all have access to it. Now this is actually a spell i’ve seen use to quite interesting effects over the years and it is a really good spell to give to your bbeg if you are DM. Because it pretty much gives them a surefire way out a tense situation. In any case let’s take a look at the mechanics really quick here, they’re not too complicated but still worth taking a look at.

The effect at a glance is as followed: Teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space that you can see.
The cast time is 1 bonus action which is great, the range is self, the duration is instantaneous. Your components are just verbal which is great and the school is a conjuration which is fine as well. Now let’s take a look at the full description once again there’s not a whole lot here, it’s a very simple spell in terms of how its worded but i think it’s still pretty dang me. Description
Briefly surrounded by silvery mist, you teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space that you can see.
Very cool stuff! Needless to say. So basically you move 30 feet undetected fantastic. Now let’s get into some alternative uses here. Also read misty step attack of opportunity.
Alternative Uses
So the one that most people use it for this escape then it’s honestly fine that’s a great way to use it. Through the same logic you can actually use it to get the better vantage points or get yourself unstuck from traps as well. misty step 5e restrained.
Another great use for this is if you’re captured this is almost a surefire way of getting out. Assume you weren’t gagged, i think it’s absolutely great and even then if you’re a sorcerer and you have this you can just settle spell it and basically get away with the zero components it’s fantastic, great stuff!
