Minor Illusion 5E Spell

Hello magic casters of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 24th episode of our cantrip series. May i introduce to you minor illusion dnd spell usable by the bard, sorcerer, warlock and the wizard and it is found in the good old players handbook. So everyone should have access to this spell which is great. The mechanics are as followed.

Mechanics

  • Level: Cantrip
  • Casting Time: 1 Action
  • Range/Area: 30 ft
  • Components: S, M
  • Duration: 1 Minute
  • School: Illusion
  • Attack/Save: None
  • Damage/Effect: Control

The cast time is one action, the range is 30 feet, the duration is one minute, the effect is essentially you can create one illusionary effect either make a sound or make an object. The components are somatic and material meaning you drew up the gesture. As well as the material component is a bit of fleece if you’re concerned or if you’re curious about that. It is not consumed in the spell so you only need the one alternatively there are ways around that.

As well as spell focused this venue kind shirts of ice and the school is unsurprisingly illusion. Let’s take a look at the full description here so that we can know what is minor illusion 5e?.

Description

You create a sound or an image of an object within range that lasts for the duration. The illusion also ends if you dismiss it as an action or cast this spell again.

If you create a sound, its volume can range from a whisper to a scream. It can be your voice, someone else’s voice, a lion’s roar, a beating of drums, or any other sound you choose. The sound continues unabated throughout the duration, or you can make discrete sounds at different times before the spell ends.

If you create an image of an object–such as a chair, muddy footprints, or a small chest–it must be no larger than a 5-foot cube. The image can’t create sound, light, smell, or any other sensory effect. Physical interaction with the image reveals it to be an illusion, because things can pass through it.

If a creature uses its action to examine the sound or image, the creature can determine that it is an illusion with a successful Intelligence (Investigation) check against your spell save DC. If a creature discerns the illusion for what it is, the illusion becomes faint to the creature.

Very cool stuff! Realistically your imagination is the only limit on this spell. That being said, let’s take a look at some alternative uses that are a little bit easier to use.

Alternative Uses

First and foremost you can use it to create gastly images such as specters, ghosts, races and you think of those nature will definitely freak out some NPCs. You could also use it to kind of forge documents, i would probably give them advantage on the spell save DC just to earn the investigation check rather just because there is another spell that can do this as well so.

That being said, i don’t see why it wouldn’t work. You could also use it to manifest the sound or appearance of guards that’d be a good way to use it or animals as well. So there’s a quite a bit of uses for this spell and i’m sure there’s many many many more those are just from the top of my head. Also read can you see through minor illusion?
