Hello warlocks of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 24th episode of our eldritch invocation series where we go through all the warlock eldritch invocations and kind of at least explain them a little bit better. In any case today we’re gonna be taking a look at dnd 5e lance of lethargy, this is one of the cooler ones honestly i really like what it does and i like the role play potential of it. That being said, let’s take a look at the description at least to understand.
Description
First and foremost there is a prerequisite to this and that is that you have to be able to cast the eldritch blast cantrip which most warlocks worth their salt do and the description reads as followed. In any case you can also read how long does unconscious last 5e.
Once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with your eldritch blast, you can reduce that creature’s speed by 10 feet until the end of your next turn.
Really really cool stuff! and it stacks really well with a lot of those other eldritch invocations that imply movement. It just really helps to control the battlefield right! That being said, let’s take a look at the overview and i’ll flesh that a little bit more. You can also read this dnd 5e lance of lethargy spells.
Overview
Essentially once per turn your eldritch blast gonna do some movement by 10 feet.
Which is pretty pretty nice. What i really like about this its stacks with grasp of hadar 5e and repelling blast 5e i believe. Sorry let me quickly check here. In any case you can also check out the difference between lance of lethargy vs repelling blast.
So it stacks with both of those and reason being is the way eldritch blast works is several separate beams so you can have one beam that pulls them ten feet closer to you, one beam that slows them down by 10 feet, one beam that pulls up further, pushes them further away. Also check out this what is agonizing blast 5e?
Alternatively you can have one beam that reduces their movement by 10 feet as well as brings them to 10 feet closer to you. Essentially negating two-thirds of their movement. Which is super great stuff! I really like how the warlock can be customized to a lot of different playstyles, this one is definitely more for the battlefield controller but still super good.
Conclusion
In any case that’s gonna be about it for this article. Thank you so much for checking out guys as always i really do appreciate it. If you have any combos, cool ideas, or general questions or statements as well as any cool stories regarding lance of lethargy 5e please put them down beneath in the comments i really like listening to them and reading them. I always make sure respond as soon as i can. That being said, i hope you all have a wonderful day and as always happy casting.
