Hello warlocks of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 15th episode of our eldritch invocation series. Today we’re going to be taking a look at one of the most OG and popular invocations the infamous, the one, the only eldritch spear 5e perfect for turning your warlock into semi-decent caster into straight-up sniper. Honestly really like what this does flavor-wise.
Personally i haven’t gotten a whole ton of use out of it and i’ll explain why in a bit but i really do think for the right build, this is a perfect and for the right campaign it can be game breaking. With all that being said, let’s take a look at the description. In any case if you’ve missed our article on can eldritch knight learn eldritch blast please have a look at it.
Description
First and foremost there is a prerequisite and that is that you have to be able to cast the eldritch blast cantrip and the description reads as followed.
When you cast eldritch blast 5e, its range is 300 feet.
My goodness! Not really a whole lot to unpack there both do our best. Let’s take a look at the overview. Do you know the answer for who can use eldritch blast 5e.
Overview
Essentially eldritch blast’s range changes from 120 feet to 300 feet. Allowing you to absolutely demolish enemies from super super far away.
So at the beginning i mentioned like personally i haven’t been able to get a ton of use out of it and the reason being is that 300 feet, it’s just too much range for me. Honestly i can’t imagine a single circumstance where i need to use that. I also have a really common habit picking spell sniper with warlocks and that lets me double the range anyways. You can also check out this spell sniper eldritch spear distant spell combination.
So it’s already at 240 feet i think that’s pretty great! I know there’s ways to get this range ridiculously how to control through spell sniper and a couple levels of sorcerer as well but for the most part you know i think the 120 feet is honestly fine, i wouldn’t imagine, i couldn’t imagine why that wouldn’t be, just peachy. Also read does eldritch smite crit.
You’ve combined that with a couple of the invocations like a grasp of hadar and i think that should be more than fine to stop people from running away but…i don’t know like it’s not terrible like i’d pick agonizing blast for sure but that’s just me, you might have a difference of opinion. Conclusion
