At higher levels: You gain an additional 1d8 per spell slot level above first. And the components are somatic and verbal meaning you have to gesture with one hand and speak forth an incantation and your school is surprisingly evocation. Also check out this dnd 5e cure wounds on self.

I have no clue why that is if you have an answer for me please put it down in the comments below. Let’s take a look at the full description so we are all on the same page here and get to know the better answer for how do you heal a wound in 5e?. You may also like our comparision between cure wounds vs healing word.

Description

A creature you touch regains a number of hit points equal to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier. This spell has no effect on undead or constructs.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the healing increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 1st.

So not really a whole lot there to dissect it’s pretty basic, pretty pretty basic. That being said, super useful i’m sure it doesn’t take a genius to figure out there’s a lot you can do with this. In terms of just being valuable to your team, there’s no real fancy wording to exploit but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. That being said, let’s take a look at some alternative uses here. Also check out this cure wounds bonus action.

Alternative Uses

You know other than healing yourself and party members i cannot see anything real for this. I guess if you really twisted you can use it as a torture technique like beat someone down to the point where they’re making death save and this cast this one them but spare the dying would be a little bit more useful i would think.
