Bat 5E Monster

Hello zoologists of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the fourth episode of our beast series. Today we’re looking at a cult classic amongst cult classics, not just in d&d but in the horror genre entirely. Today we’re looking at the bat monster dnd 5e ladies and gentlemen and it is quite a cool little creature.

The bat is considered to be a cr0 creature so that is to say it provides very little to no challenge for players and as a result it only gives 10 experience if that’s the route you’re going. And it is found in the dungeon master’s guide very cool stuff! Now without further ado let’s take a quick look at its stats here and discuss exactly how this beast operates.

Bat Monster DnD 5E Stat Block

  • Type: Tiny beast, unaligned

So it is considered to be a tiny beast that is to say the space it occupies is two and a half feet by two and a half feet. So quite small. And it is unaligned as most beasts are. In any case you can also check out this nightwing bat (5e).

  • Armor Class: 12
  • Hit Points: 1 (1d4 – 1)
  • Speed: 5 ft., fly 30 ft.

Its AC is 12 which is actually a lot better than i thought it would be for this particular creature. Hit point of one which makes more sense to me because they’re usually quite small and frail and that is calculated by rolling a d4 and subtracting one by it. It has five feet of movement but it can fly for up to 30 feet which is pretty cool! You can also check out this 5e bat cloak.

Bat Monster DnD 5E Stats

  • STR: 2 (-4)
  • DEX: 15 (+2)
  • CON: 8 (-1)
  • INT: 2 (-4)
  • WIS: 12 (+1)
  • CHA: 4 (-3)

Taking a look at bat 5e stats here some notable ones a +2 to dexterity and +1 to wisdom. So that is to say it is both dexterous and has great intuition. You can also read this giant bat mount 5e.

Senses

  • Blindsight: 60 ft.,
  • Passive Perception: 11
  • Languages: —
  • Challenge: 0 (10 XP)
  • Echolocation: The bat can’t use its blindsight while deafened.
  • Keen Hearing: The bat has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing.

Looking at its senses. It has 60 feet of blind sense which is one of the best senses in the game. So even if you are invisible a bat will still be able to detect you. It also has a passive perception score of 11.

It has keen hearing which grants it advantage on perception checks that rely on hearing and it has echolocation which is a very cool little feature, so basically it cannot use a blindsight while it is deafened. So things like silence for example be great spell to use if a bat was serving as a watchdog of sorts. Now let’s take a look at its actions.

Actions

Bite: Melee Weapon Attack: +0 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 1 piercing damage.

They can do one melee weapon attack called bite, it is plus zero to hit so just a straight roll to d20. Reach is five feet only can target creature and deals one piercing damage. No need to roll just one piercing damage, pretty simple! Also read strongest 5e monster.

I really like these guys, i think they serve as great familiars for enemy mages, i also think that they serve as very interesting wild shaped forms as well as just kind of cool pets to have around. And naturally they do make the scenery kind of come alive, people can visualize them pretty easily which is nice if your dungeon master. I just really like them. Do you know what is the weakest monster in d&d?

Conclusion

That being said, if you have any ideas, uses, concepts, questions, comments, concerns please put them down beneath in the comment section. Let me know how you guys would use them in your game. That being said, i hope you all have a great day and as always a happy studying my friends.
