Flying Monkey Familiar DnD

Hello spellcasters of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 17th episode of our find familiar series. Today we’re going to be taking a look at another one from the tomb of annihilation, which is pretty cool! Today we’re going to be taking a look at dnd 5e flying monkey familiar.

It is the second familiar that you can pick from the tomb of annihilation campaign. Please bear in mind that these are not part of the core spells so they are optional and you should run them past to your dm before you pick them. So with that out of the way let’s take a look at the stats here. In any case also read this what animals can be familiars 5e.

DnD 5E Flying Monkey Familiar Stats

Can you have a flying monkey as a familiar? The winged monkey in dnd are slightly more clever and curious than common monkeys, and they can be domesticated and taught to obey simple commands. They come in many colors and varieties, with feathered wings that have a span of about 5 feet. With the DM’s permission, the find familiar spell can summon a flying monkey. You can also check out our article on 5e can familiars use magic items.

  • Flying Monkey: Small beast, unaligned
  • Armor Class: 12; Hit Points: 3 (1d6); Speed: Walk 20 ft., Climb 20 ft., fly 30 ft.
  • STR: 8 (-1)
  • DEX: 14 (+2)
  • CON: 11 (+0)
  • INT: 5 (-3)
  • WIS: 12 (+1)
  • CHA: 6 (-2)
  • Senses: Passive Perception 11
  • Languages —
  • Challenge: 0 (10 XP)
  • Pack Tactics: The flying monkey has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of the monkey’s allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn’t incapacitated.
  • Actions Bite: Melee Weapon Attack: +1 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1 (1d4 – 1) piercing damage.

So the flying monkey has a twelve in their AC which puts them above the kind of above the bell curve by just a little bit which is really nice. It’s got three hit points as well that’s done by calculating the average on a d6. I would roll the d6 and go off that usually a bit more fun that way. Also check out is there a monkey race in d&d

They have three different speeds, a walk speed of 20 feet, a climb speed of 20 feet or a fly speed of 30 feet. Needless to say this is gonna be up in the air a little bit more than often than not. Looking at its stats you’ll notice that dexterity and wisdom are too best so logically make sense. Keep reading flying monkey dnd race.

It can carry (120 lbs) or lift (240 lbs) more than a tiny creature could. 2. It has hands and thumbs, so it can manipulate things like a humanoid can. Some DM gives them a grasping tail (like you see in the official picture), one option more to do and grab stuff. That said, if you have a small or light weight PC it could lift and carry you, and give your PC a flying ability of some sort. My little kobold wizard uses it all the time… 😉

I would like to see higher intelligence but whatever whatever yeah i know why they did that. In terms of senses your passive perception is gonna be at 11 which is not terrible. This familiar also benefits from pact tactics and unless you go with the pact of the chain warlock. They can’t attack anyways but i do just want to point out that it is here.

In terms of the monkey itself this is one of the best familiars for a lot of spellcasters who like to have the most versatility out of their builds. Reason being is the monkeys essentially the only real familiar with true opposable thumbs. So they can use a lot of magic items stuff like that, so i’ll just bear that in mind. That being said, they’re also super fun a fly speed is kind of broken in 5E so there is that too but they’re not particularly overwhelmingly broken.

Conclusion

That being said, if you have any alternative uses or ways to use the monkey please let me know down in the comments beneath. I really appreciate it and i love hearing from you guys and talking with you. That being said, i hope you all have a great day and as always happy casting.
