Hello adventurers and DMs of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 16th boon in our epic boons 5e series. Today we’re going to be taking a look at boon of resilience 5e which in my opinion is really great but the classes that gain most from it already kind of have it in all honesty. That being said, let’s take a look at its mechanics here.
Mechanics
You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons.
Basically you get a fraction of the barbarian rage or you could also consider you being permanently buffed by blade ward they’re pretty good, i probably say the advantages to this would be the same as the advantages to a blade ward it just really helps your character survivability wise.
My concern is the barbarian would probably get the most use from this because they traditionally have a lower AC than the fighters do but they take more hits just the same. So barbarian already has rage though so it doesn’t really benefit from this.
The monk and the hexblade warlock would probably benefit from this more than anyone, same with like any gish characters like casters or close and personal rogue stuff of that nature but for the most part i want to say hexblade or monk would probably get the most bang for your buck. That being said, let’s get to my persoanl thoughts. You can also read minor boons 5e.
Thoughts
As i mentioned hexblade warrior, monk, rogue to an extent are probably the ones that are gonna want this boon the most. In terms of how i’d incorporate it into a game, i’d probably allow it if you destroyed a high enough quality of magical item and as good as this boon sounds in theory at high levels it’s not that great. Everything’s magical at high levels, so it doesn’t really help you out too too much. Maybe gets like more mundane traps and stuff of that nature but i don’t inherently have a problem introducing it as long as it was above 15th level. Blade ward effects all piercing slashing and bludgeoning damage. This is permanent stone skin. Yeah i think that’s pretty fair, it’d be cool quest reward as well or a cool blessing from a god or greater deity i’d really cool!
Conclusion
