Wrathful Smite Spell DnD 5E

Hello magic casters of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 75th episode of our first level spell series. Today we’re gonna be taking a look at wrathful smite dnd 5e which in my opinion is probably the best smite out of the actual spell list here.

It is usable by the paladin and found in the player’s handbook at least the best smite we’ve covered so far. So we should all have access to it makes sense a paladin should be the only one to have it. That being said, let’s take a look at its mechanics now.

Mechanics

  • Level: 1st
  • Casting Time: 1 Bonus Action
  • Range/Area: Self
  • Components: V
  • Duration: 1 Minute (Concentration)
  • School: Evocation
  • Attack/Save: WIS Save
  • Damage/Effect: Psychic

The damage is a melee weapon damage +1d6 so pretty cool! the effect: Next successful melee hit, deals extra damage, the target must also makes a wisdom save, on a fail the target is frightened for the spells duration. The target can also use actions to remake the wisdom check. Don’t miss this article wrathful smite warlock.

The cast time is one bonus action which is so nice, the range is self, the duration is one minute and it is concentration so please bear that in mind. The saving throw once again is wisdom, the components are just a verbal which is perfect means you can use a weapon shield right here to cast it. The school is evocation and the damage type is psychic which is really great stuff. With that out of the way let’s take a look at the full description. In any case don’t miss this can you stack eldritch smite and divine smite.

Description

The next time you hit with a melee weapon attack during this spell’s duration, your attack deals an extra 1d6 psychic damage. Additionally, if the target is a creature, it must make a Wisdom saving throw or be frightened of you until the spell ends. As an action, the creature can make a Wisdom check against your spell save DC to steel its resolve and end this spell.

Really good stuff there! If you’re unfamiliar with the rules and following the frightened condition. A frightened creature is disadvantage on ability checks and attack rolls while the source of its fail is within line of sight. The creature can’t willingly move closer to the source of its fail. So pretty cool stuff.

Honestly the frightened condition is one of the best ones you get access to of those lower levels so be sure to include it in your character if you have the option to. That being said, let’s move along to some alternative uses. Don’t miss the comparision between wrathful smite vs hex.

Alternative Uses

So one of the best alternative use i can think of is use it as a way to cause enemies to our treatment. The frightened condition would probably cause them to do that from a roleplay perspective. Thinking about it logically now you could also really use it to benefit yourself in competitive games. Once again posing that disadvantage you never girl with a mind of state. Could really turn this way of a sporting event right. Also read wrathful smite vs divine smite.

Conclusion

That being said guys, thank you so much i really appreciate your time, i hope you all have a wonderful day and as always happy casting. Also read these articles branding smite 5e | searing smite 5e | thunderous smite 5e | is eldritch smite worth it |
