Rothé DnD 5E Monster

Hello zoologists of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 70th episode of our beast series. Today we’re looking at the Rothé. We’ve covered the dnd 5e deep rothe in previous article. So we’ve kind of addressing this creature already but this is kind of the more surface level variant i suppose you could say.

It is found in the volo’s guide to everything and it is considered to be cr one quarter and provides 50 experience points on a kill. If you are unfamiliar with what rothe is, consider to be a bison basically they are, their herd animals were one of the primary livestock of humans and farren’s northern areas and there’s the deep rothe or what’s found in the underdark and the drought use them.

They resemble a musk oxen to be more specific so. Yeah they’re pretty cool just larger herd animals is probably the best way to look at him. Now let’s take a quick look at their stats here.

Table of Contents

Rothé DnD 5E Stats

  • Type: Large beast, unaligned
  • Armor Class: 10
  • Hit Points: 15 (2d10 + 4)
  • Speed: 30 ft.

The rothe is considered to be a large beast that is unaligned. It has an AC of 12 and 15 hit points, calculated by rolling 2d10 and adding four. It has a speed of 30 feet. Now let’s take a look at its actual stats here.

  • STR: 18 (+4)
  • DEX: 10 (+0)
  • CON: 14 (+2)
  • INT: 2 (-4)
  • WIS: 10 (+0)
  • CHA: 4 (-3)
  • Senses: Darkvision 30 ft., Passive Perception 10
  • Languages:
  • Challenge: 1/4 (50 XP)
  • Charge: If the Rothé moves at least 20 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with a gore attack on the same turn, the target takes an extra 7 (2d6) piercing damage.

You’ll see its strength is top notch. +4 modifier to its strength and it has a pretty decent constitution as well, clocking in at a +2 modifier. Outside of that its stats are pretty average for beasts. Now taking a look at its senses now you’ll see darkvision up to 30 feet, and a passive perception of 10 which really isn’t too much to brag about.

It can also take the charge ability as well. So if it moves 20 feet straight towards a target then hits it with a gore attack on the same turn. The target takes an extra seven piercing damage calculated by rolling 2d6. Pretty cool stuff! A lot of the larger herd animals have that ability but it’s still pretty cool! Nonetheless. Now let’s take a quick look at its actions.

Actions

  • Gore: Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4) piercing damage.

The rothe can do a gore attack it is considered to be a melee weapon attack plus six to hit which is great! Reach of five feet and it can target one target and deals 7 piercing damage on a hit. Calculated by rolling 1d6 and adding four.

Overall i really do like rothe. I think it’s probably best used as a background character. I can’t really think of a lot of quests that would focus in on this guy. Also check out this stench kow 5e.

Conclusion

That being said, if you have any ideas on how to use the rothe in your game please put it down beneath in the comment section. Also be sure to note if you have any questions, comments or concerns down there as well. That being said, i hope you all have a great day and as always a happy researching.
