DnD 5E Riding Horse Monster

Hello zoologists of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 69th episode of our beast series. Today we are gonna be taking a look at the dnd 5e riding horse. Now like most of these mount variants i probably recommend using them as more of a status symbol or even a gift than anything else.

Reason being is there’s a lot of mounts and all of their stats are pretty similar, this is gonna be no exception. So i don’t know everyone flavor on. The riding horse is found in the basic rules and this is considered to be a cr one quarter creature. Now let’s take a quick moment here and go over to stats. DnD 5E Riding Horse Stats

  • Type: Large beast, unaligned
  • Armor Class: 10
  • Hit Points: 13 (2d10 + 2)
  • Speed: 60 ft.

The riding horse is considered to be a large beast that is unaligned. There’s an AC of 10, 13 hit points calculated by rolling 2d10 and adding two. And a speed of 60 feet. Which is pretty impressive. Now let’s take a look at its actual stats here. You can also check out the difference betwee dnd 5e draft horse vs riding horse.

  • STR: 16 (+3)
  • DEX: 10 (+0)
  • CON: 12 (+1)
  • INT: 2 (-4)
  • WIS: 11 (+0)
  • CHA: 7 (-2)
  • Senses: Passive Perception 10
  • Languages:
  • Challenge: 1/4 (50 XP)

You’ll notice its strength is probably the biggest contributor. It does have a surprising amount of constitution though, so that might be something you’re considering as well when you’re picking a mount. Under senses it doesn’t have really anything just a passive perception of 10 which isn’t terrible but not really something you’re gonna want to rely on too too much. Let’s take a quick look at its actions here. Also read this do you need proficiencies to ride a horse 5e?.

Actions

Hooves: Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (2d4 + 3) bludgeoning damage.

They can perform a hoove attack. A melee weapon attack plus five to hit, reach of five feet, one target and deals 8 bludgeoning damage on a hit calculated by rolling 2d4 and adding 3. Don’t miss this dnd rider.

Ultimately i’m not a huge fan of this mount. It just doesn’t really do anything for me. It might be a good kind of low level mount to give your party members or your team rather. But it’s a little underwhelming in my opinion. I don’t know but that’s just me. Also read this how do you ride a horse in 5e?.
