Camel Monster DnD 5E

camel monster 5e

Hello zoologists of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out 34th episode of our beast series. Today we are going to be taking a look at another classic example of wizards of the coast kind of messing with us a little bit, at least in terms of glaring inaccuracies but you know whatever.

That being said, we’re gonna be talking about the camel monster, the camel is considered to be a cr 1/8 beast and it provides 25 experience points on a kill if you run your game like that. It is also found in the basic rules, so it’s in a couple different source books. That being said, let’s take a quick look at its stats here.

Camel Monster DnD 5E Stats

  • Type: Large beast, unaligned
  • Armor Class: 9
  • Hit Points: 15 (2d10 + 4)
  • Speed: 50 ft.

So the camel is actually considered to be a large beast which makes him our only large beast covered so far just super exciting stuff. He’s also considered to be a unaligned as most beasts are. Looking at its AC it’s sadly a 9 which actually puts him below a lot of the cro creatures which is pretty interesting.

He does however have access to 15 hit points calculated by rolling 2d10 and adding a plus four modifier. He also has movement speed of 50 feet which is pretty impressive at least when compared to to a lot of medium-sized creatures. Now let’s take a look at its actual stats here.

Camel Monster DnD Stats

  • STR: 16 (+3)
  • DEX: 8 (-1)
  • CON: 14 (+2)
  • INT: 2 (-4)
  • WIS: 8 (-1)
  • CHA: 5 (-3)
  • Senses: Passive Perception 9
  • Languages:
  • Challenge: 1/8 (25 XP)

You’ll notice that he is one of the strongest beasts we’ve covered so far. Clocking in at a +3 modifier for strength and a +2 modifier for constitution which makes him one of the most tough creatures we’ve covered so far as well. However the rest of his stats leave a lot to be desired, he’s not particularly dexterous, pretty dumb not very wise and pretty dang uncharismatic as well.

Now his senses are just a passive perception of 9 and that’s it, there’s no crazy extra features or traits on the camel. Which is very disappointing i would have liked to see something in regrads to being able to dash as a bonus action maybe or anything something related to stamina perhaps anything just not, not just that. But whatever i mean he has pretty good stats so that kind of balances it out. That being said, let’s take a quick look at his actions here.

Actions

  • Bite: Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2 (1d4) bludgeoning damage.

So the camel only has one action and that is a bite attack. It is considered to be a melee weapon attack, +5 to hit which is nice. Reach of five feet, it can only target one target deals two bluedgeoning damage and that is calculated by the role of a d4.

Very cool stuff! I really like it. I feel disappointed about its senses, skills and other traits but at least has a pretty cool attack.

Conclusion

That being said, i think is best belong in a desert environment for sure. Maybe in a zoo or traveling circus but outside of that i can’t really imagine a lot of uses for them, it’s pretty clear that wizards of the coast made them exclusively usable for transport and it is one of the steeds available through the find steed spell so it’s pretty interesting in that regard. I feel this is one of the best camel monster dnd spells.

That being said, let me know how you would fold it into your game down beneath in the comment section. Also be sure to mention any thoughts, questions, comments or concerns you may have. That being said, i hope you all have a great day and as always happy researching. Also check out this camel 5e mount.
