Giant Rat Stat Block DnD 5E

  • Type: Small beast, unaligned
  • Armor Class: 12
  • Hit Points: 7 (2d6)
  • Speed: 30 ft.

How big are giant rats in d&d? So the giant rat is considered to be a small beast and that is unaligned. He also has 12 AC and 7 hit points calculated by rolling 2d6 and how fast is the giant rat? a speed of 30 feet which puts him align with medium creatures. Now lets take a look at is actual stats.

Giant Rat DnD 5E Stats

  • STR: 7 (-2)
  • DEX: 15 (+2)
  • CON: 11 (+0)
  • INT: 2 (-4)
  • WIS: 10 (+0)
  • CHA: 4 (-3)
  • Senses: Darkvision 60 ft., Passive Perception 10
  • Languages:
  • Challenge: 1/8 (25 XP)

You’ll notice he’s quite dexterous but not really particularly good at anything else. Under sense you’ll see darkvision upto 60 feet which is nice and a passive perception of 10 which is okay. Now let’s check out its other traits here.

Other Traits

Keen Smell: The rat has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.

So the giant rat gets access to keen smell which gives an advantage on perception checks that rely on smell and pack tactics.

Pack Tactics: The rat has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of the rat’s allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn’t incapacitated.

The pack tactics which give an advantage on attack rolls when a friendly ally is within five feet. Very cool stuff! Now let’s quickly check out his action here.

Actions

Bite: Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) piercing damage.

Very nice stuff! you’ll notice this whole stat block is basically identical to the diseased giant rat 5e without that second part on the actions that inflict long-term poison damage. That being said howeve i think it would be a good idea to mix up the two. A couple diseased rats with a larger amount of just regular giant rats, that way you could provide some diversity they all kind of look the same so the party wouldn’t really know until they got bit by one.

Conclusion

That being said, let me know how you would use them down beneath in the comment section. Also be sure to mention any thoughts, questions, comments or concerns you have regarding the giant rat. That being said, i hope you all have a great day and as always happy researching my friends. Keep reading swarm of rats 5e | giant centipede 5e | dire rat 5e stats |
