Giant Crab DnD 5E Monster

Hello zoologists of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 38th episode of our beast series. Today we have kind of a cool one in store for us today, we’re talking about the giant crab dnd 5e which to me right now sounds delicious man i miss crab. It is found in the basic rule set that is so far as to say its found in kind of all the starter books yet.

It’s also considered to be a cr1/8 creature and provides 25 experience points on a kill. To be honest i’ve never actually played a game with any of these, moving forward as a DM i’ll use them but i’ve never gone up against one as a PC. So it seems pretty interesting though. That being said, let’s quickly check out its stats here.

Giant Crab DnD 5E Stats

  • Type: Medium beast, unaligned
  • Armor Class: 15 (Natural Armor)
  • Hit Points: 13 (3d8)
  • Speed: 30 ft., swim 30 ft.

So the giant crab is considered to be a medium beast that is unaligned. So he’s about the size of most adventurers which is pretty terrifying but also makes my stomach ache for him. AC of 15 which is pretty incredible when you actually think about it. 13 Hit points calculated by rolling 3d8 and it has a normal speed of 30 feet and the swim speed of 30 feet. So he can kind of do either or. Now let’s take a look at its actual stats.

Stats

  • STR: 13 (+1)
  • DEX: 15 (+2)
  • CON: 11 (+0)
  • INT: 1 (-5)
  • WIS: 9 (-1)
  • CHA: 3 (-4)
  • Skills: Stealth +4
  • Senses: Blindsight 30 ft., Passive Perception 9
  • Languages:
  • Challenge: 1/8 (25 XP)
  • Amphibious: The crab can breathe air and water.

You’ll notice he’s actually quite strong and dexterous however he’s about as dumb as you can get. Not very wise and very low charisma as you’d expect from just a crab. He does however have a +4 to stealth which is pretty cool. Under senses he has both blindsight and a passive perception of 9 which is nothing to really brag about. He has an amphibious so you can breath air and water which is pretty cool! Now let’s take a quick look at his actions here. Also check out this huge giant crab 5e stats.

Actions

  • Claw: Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d6 + 1) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 11). The crab has two claws, each of which can grapple only one target.

The giant crab actually is an interesting attack, so its claw attack is considered to be a melee weapon +3 to hit, reach of five feet, one target and deals four bludgeoning damage calculated by rolling 1d6 and adding one. And the target is grappled escape dc11, the crab has 2 claws each of which can grapple only one target. So that’s very interesting stuff. I actually think that’s hilarious. I think this might actually be a good creature to segue with into an underwater adventure at early levels. By that what i mean is imagine you want to run some kind of like a grunt campaign or an atlantian kind of themed campaign or anything like that. But you don’t really get your party down there. This is a great way to force them to go down there.

Have a bunch of giant crabs emerge, just grapple him and take him to the groung. I think that would be a pretty cool, pretty funny and it makes sense and i wouldn’t really consider it railroading to any real degree and the groung would be all like “sorry about the misunderstanding adventurers, all we need is your help because the mean humans are poisoning our water supply please help us defeat them.”

I think that would be a pretty cool way to kind of make the adventure flow more linearly and correct the party if they’re deviating too far of course. Very cool stuff though, i really do like it. I think the giant crab definitely belongs in a lot of people’s campaigns. So i hope in writing this article a lot of you are made aware of them. Do you know how big is the apparatus of the crab 5e?.

Conclusion
