Today we’re going to be taking a look at thirsting blade 5e another cutely named one as always wizards great job on the naming of these. So what book is thirsting blade in? It is from PHB.
In any case thirsting blade invocation is all but necessary for most hexblade warlocks and i’ll get into why that is. This also combo is unbelievably well with a certain multi class which will also mention later on. In any case let’s take a look at the description so you know what we’re talking about here. Description
There is a prerequisite, there are actually two. The first being you have to be at least fifth level, that is five levels in warlock 5e by the way not five levels total character level. And you have to have the pact of the balde feature. Which is pretty standard for most hexbladers. This is actually the main reason you want to pick the pact of the blade so we’ll get into that too. It written as followed. Also would you like to know thirsting blade stack with extra attack.
You can attack with your pact weapon twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.

Overview
So basically one attack action gets you two attacks.
It makes sense right! A lot of people interpret this to read basically kind of pseudo extra attack but it’s actually so much more than that. Because of the wording conventions here every time you take the attack action yet two attacks to settle one. Also read are warlocks weak 5e.
So if you were to oh i don’t know take let’s say a small dip into fighter seeing an action surge that means two levels of fighter plus five levels of warlock so seventh level character would get four attacks, two for each attack action and you get one attack action normally and then another one when you use action surge.
