Hello adventurers of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 54th episode of our feat series. Today we’re gonna be taking a look at yet another xanathar’s guide to everything racial exclusive. Today we’re going to be taking a look at squat nimbleness feat dnd 5e for you little guys out there who want to compete in the big leagues. It is found in the xanathar’s guide to everything handbook and without further ado let’s take a look at the description here.
Description
First and foremost it would be worth noting that there is a prerequisite here and that is the there you have to be a dwarf or a small race. So in that would include halflings, goblins, things of that nature, gnomes as well would be in there. In any case let’s take a look at the description so we could better understand what we’re talking about.
You are uncommonly nimble for your race. You gain the following benefits: Increase your Strength or Dexterity score by 1, to a maximum of 20. Increase your walking speed by 5 feet. You gain proficiency in the Acrobatics or Athletics skill (your choice). You have advantage on any Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check you make to escape from being grappled.
Wow really good stuff there! let’s take a look at the walkthrough and break this down a little bit more.
Walkthrough
So first and foremost of that strength or descterity fairly simple to explain. Pick whichever ones closest having your ability score increase and then from there look into which one benefits your character more so. Usually dexterity but depends on your build is. From there the extra 5 feet to walkspeed pretty useful in the right circumstances. Ultimately this just kind of matches you with whatever it is you, with everyone else basically.
Short races usually have a minus five penalty to movements this just catches you up, which is pretty nice. Proficiency in acrobatics or athletics up to you. Once again pretty easy to explain kind of go with whatever stats the highest or whichever one you don’t have already outside of that and then advantage on acrobatics/athletics to escape or grapple. which is pretty good stuff. Ultimately comes down your campaign, in any case let’s take a look at my personal thoughts on it.
Thoughts
The only one i can really see benefitting from this would probably be the hexblade warlock it just complements a lot of their current pitfalls of being a full caster yet still being on the melee ranks. Outside of them i’m not too too sure, maybe if you’re playing a gish wizard or sorcerer that’d be a good way to do it. Outside of that i honestly can’t really think of anyone i don’t find this to be an overwhelmingly powerful feat by any means and kind of just makes you good and it does stag with levels to some degree or another but for the most part it’s a fair choice.
Conclusion
In any case if you have any build ideas, thoughts, comments, feelings about squat nimbleness please let me know down in the comments beneath. I really appreciate reading them and i know everyone else checking in does as well. That being said, i hope you all have a great day and as always happy adventuring.
