Warding Wind 5E Spell

Hello magic casters of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 76th episode of our second level spell series. Today we have a very special one in store for us and the way that it is thematically awesome. Today we’re gonna be taking a look at one of the strong warding wind spell 5e.

This spell is usable by the bard, druid, sorcerer and the wizard and it is found in the amazing elemental evil player’s companion. And we all know this spell is that come from that book are absolute fire and this would have certainly no exception. So without further ado let’s take a look at the mechanics and establish what we’re talking about.

Mechanics

  • Level: 2nd
  • Casting Time: 1 Action
  • Range/Area: Self (10 ft Radius)
  • Components: V
  • Duration: 10 Minutes (Concentration)
  • School: Evocation
  • Attack/Save: None
  • Damage/Effect: Deafened

The effect at a glance is as followed: Create a windstorm centered on you, it: Deafens creatures in the area, Extinguishes unprotected flames, Disperses vapor, causes difficult terrain and makes ranged attack rolls have disadvantage. That’s right, this one spell has all of that in one nice package needless to say it quite impressive.

Now the cast time is but a simple action, the range is self and the radius is 10 feet, it might be worth noting that this spell follows you around as well so that’s really nice. The duration is 10 minutes and sadly it is concentration but the plus side is the components are just verbal and the school is evocation which makes sense. Now let’s take a look at the full description here to better understand exactly how the spell works. Also check out this what is the difference between warding wind and gust of wind?.

Description

A strong wind (20 miles per hour) blows around you in a 10-foot radius and moves with you, remaining centered on you. The wind lasts for the spell’s duration. In any case does warding wind affect spells?

The wind has the following effects:

  • It deafens you and other creatures in its area.
  • It extinguishes unprotected flames in its area that are torch-sized or smaller.
  • It hedges out vapor, gas, and fog that can be dispersed by strong wind.
  • The area is difficult terrain for creatures other than you.
  • The attack rolls of ranged weapon attacks have disadvantage if the attacks pass in or out of the wind.

Very cool stuff! Absolutely incredible stuff, needless to say this is certainly something you’re gonna want to have in your arsenal, if you’re a squishy caster for sure there’s a lot of benefit to this one spell. Now let’s take a look at some quick alternative uses here. You may also like to read one of our what is the warding spell in d&d?.

Alternative Uses

One of my favorite warding wind 5e uses in particular would be honestly keeping someone safe. That disadvantage to ranged attack rolls is super amazing honestly really do love it. So if you’re planning on protecting someone and they’re in the back lines of you, you might as well get this spell up and running and just as an added passive layer of defense. Very nice stuff! Worthwhile spell and it’s a very good spell. You can also check out this does gust of wind impose disadvantage on ranged attacks?.

Outside of that i think it’d be kind of cool to see what would happen if you took this warding wind 5e in just somewhere like an alchemy lab or someone where there’s a lot of fragile items around i think gotta be be a hilarious, a truly a chaotic evil thing to do. Also this spell is really gonna help level the playing field when you feel like you’re punching up.

Between the disadvantage on the ranged attack, between the deafened condition, between the difficult terrain it just really it does help you out in the long haul and i really do like it, i think it is fantastic. Do you know what is a level 1 wind spell?.
