Hello casters of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you for checking out the 22nd episode of our cantrip series. And of course through extension anyone else with access to their spell lists and it is found in the good old players handbook. Let’s take a quick look at some mechanics here. In case if you’d like to check out fixing sorcerer 5e dnd then take a look at it once.
Mechanics
- Level: Cantrip

- Range/Area: Touch

The cast time is kind of a bummer it’s one minute, The range is touch, the duration is instantaneous, the effect is repair an object, it can not store magical properties however. The components are somatic, verbal and material. You can also check out how does bane work 5e.
In case you’re curious about the material component, it is too load stones they’re different than what you think they’re just minerals found in nature. The school is adjuration. No let’s take a look at the full description here so we’re all on the same page. Don’t forget to check out our mending affinity 5e article as well.
Description
This spell repairs a single break or tear in an object you touch, such as a broken chain link, two halves of a broken key, a torn cloak, or a leaking wineskin. As long as the break or tear is no larger than 1 foot in any dimension, you mend it, leaving no trace of the former damage. This spell can physically repair a magic item or construct, but the spell can’t restore magic to such an object. do artificers get mending?
So there is a decent amount of unpack here. So it’s kind of a bummer it can’t restore magic objects. I might allow it where if a certain level spells lot of sacrifices can’t restore magic. You can kind of homebrew that in there if you don’t want to do that though that’s fine there’s still tons of uses for this spell. Also read this dnd healing 5e.
That one minute cast time is kind of a bummer it is not concentration though which is kind of nice he can do other things he do it just do other things while that’s happening and i won’t really affect too much i suppose. Also look at our how to increase spell damage 5e article.
That being said outside of combat i might make it a little bit shorter even kind of homebrew that in there. It depends on what is being used for ultimately that’s probably good way to look at it. Let’s take a look at some alternative uses here. Also read this mending 5e warforged article.
Alternative Uses
Here you can check out mending 5e uses. So right out of the gate you can use it to repair any ammo that might have broke which is gonna be really great if you’re actually keeping track of ammunition. As well as break any keys and i think that’s pretty cool honestly and tearon aron fix any torn envelopes. I think that’d be really great too. So certainly a couple uses for it, more creatively now that i’m actually writing this. You can also look at the repair spell 5e for homebrew version.
You could use it in combination with shillelagh too. Bake the magic property and then sell it at a high price if that make sense. I think that’d be fairly interesting as well or even go off with it, that pretty cool! Outside of that i’m not too sure acts of goodwill this could really help you build a rapport with some NPCs too. Also read this fixing spells 5e, clothes of mending 5e.
Conclusion
There’s a couple of quite a few uses for this. If you have any you’d like to share of if you any cool stories involving this mending 5e cantrip please post it down in the comments. I love to read it and i’m sure bunch of other people here would as well. With that being said, i hope everyone has a great day and as always happy casting.
