Hello zoologists of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 16th episode of our beast series. We got a treat in store for us well kind of sorta i don’t know. Today we’re gonna be taking a look at the hawk 5e monster.
Now this is one of the most popular familiar choices, maybe outside of the owl which will of course be covering in a later article. But the hawk is found in the dungeon master’s guide and a ton of other source books including the phb. And it is considered to be a cr0 creature, that is to say it’s not really a challenge and it provides 10 experience points when defeated.
Now let’s take a quick look at its stats here so you can figure out exactly what we’re talking about. In any case you can also check out this hawk 5e monster familiar.
Hawk 5E Monster Stat Block
- Type: Tiny beast, unaligned
- Armor Class: 13
- Hit Points: 1 (1d4 – 1)
- Speed: 10 ft., fly 60 ft.
So the hawk is for some strange reason considered to be a tiny beast, unaligned. I mean at least make it small i don’t know. I know there are like kind of smaller than eagles but they seems ridiculous and whatever. Wizards is weird when it comes to animals.
It has an AC of 13 and one hit point and calculated by rolling a d4 and subtracting one that so ridiculous. And if you ask me how fast is the hawk 5e? then i’d say its speed is 10 feet but it can also has fly speed of 60 feet which is actually really impressive. Now lets take a look at its actual stats here.
Hawk 5E Monster Stats
- STR: 5 (-3)
- DEX: 16 (+3)
- CON: 8 (-1)
- INT: 2 (-4)
- WIS: 14 (+2)
- CHA: 6 (-2)
You’ll notice that he is a very dexterous but outside of that he’s not too bright he’s got a little bit of wisdom and a little bit of charisma at least relative to a lot of other creatures but he’s not nothing to brag about however. You look at his skills. You can check out strongest 5e monster.
Skills
Man perception +4 that’s not bad. And under senses it has passive perception of 14 also not bad and it has keen sight as well so advantage on wisdom (perception) checks that rely on sight. Sounds pretty good to me actually not quite as good as the owl 5e as i mentioned earlier but kinda depends on your playstyle i guess. That being said, let’s take a quick look at his actions here. Do you know what is the help action in 5e?
Actions
Talons: Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1 slashing damage.
Much like the eagle he can do a talon attack, i considered to be a melee weapon attack +5 to hit which is actually really great. Range of five feet, one target and it deals one slashing damage on a hit which isn’t super impressive but i still feel like this is the best used as once again very similar to the eagle it’s kind of like a spy or an indicator of things to come perhaps like drop the hint that there’s a hawk circling the party and then one minute it’s there and the next it’s not. You know like use it to build ominous tension perhaps. That’s the best i can really come up with. Check out this 5e most dangerous monsters.
Conclusion
That being said, let me know what you would do to fold it into your game down beneath in the comment section, i’m really curious to hear. That being said, if you have any other ideas, thoughts, questions, comments, concerns also put it down in the comment section i really do appreciate it. That being said, i hope you have a great day and as always happy researching my friends. Check out this highest hp monster 5e.
