DnD 5E Heavily Armored Feat

Hello adventurers of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 24th episode of our feats series. Are you hungry for AC? do you want to get that little bit more of an advantage? do you have dreams of being drenched in the thickest of full plate? if that sounds like your character then you know what this feat might be for them. May i introduce to you dnd 5e heavily armored feat this feat is found in the players handbook. So we should all have access to it and just before we could take a look at the brief description of this feat.

Let me explain to you what feats are? how they work? stuff like that. So feats in a nutshell are extra abilities, traits and skills you can give your character to make them a little bit more personalized in their playstyle and they better compliment your version of strategy and D&D as a whole. You usually get them every four levels or so, some classes get them a little bit more frequently than others but every four levels is a generally accepted rule of thumb. With that out of the way let’s take a quick look at the full description here.

Description

Something i would like to point out, you need proficiency and medium armor before you even take this feat that is the prerequisite. The feat description reads as followed.

You have trained to master the use of heavy armor, gaining the following benefits: Increase your Strength score by 1, to a maximum of 20. You gain proficiency with heavy armor. Not really a whole lot to go into there but let’s break it down either way.

Walkthrough

So the plus one to strength fairly self-explanatory you know it’s pretty good and the ability to wear heavy armor it’s great, You know honestly a lot of it gives you disadvantage on stealth checks which for some characters they really don’t care.

If you’re making….you know, there would be a lot of benefits for this based on parties right! If you’re like a tank and you’re the don designate tank this would be perfect. That being said, let’s take a look at my thoughts.

Thoughts

So in addition to creating a pseudo tank, another potential benefit of this would be if you and your party stumble across some awesome like mystic heavy armor and none of you could use it or if it really complimented your playstyle but the people who can use it really didn’t want it, this would be something that you were heavily considered.

In of itself i’m kind of torn on it. I can see the utility behind it but i refuse to believe it as the best feat to pick for most options. You know what i mean like there’s just not really a whole lot to it if i’m being honest, it doesn’t mean it’s good or bad or anything like that. It’s just maybe i’m just a fan of the complicated ones who knows.

In terms of who benefits most from it, i mean everyone with medium armor proficiency i guess. So the rogues could probably benefit a decent amount from it, depending on circumstances you know. The warlocks depending on circumstances can really benefit from this yeah…i mean honestly though if i really wanted to gain proficiency with heavy armor i just take a one level dip in forged cleric but that’s just me personally and there might be reasons why you don’t want to do that or there might even be story reasons why this makes more sense.

Conclusion

In any case guys i can’t release comment too much on a base on a simplicity. But if you have any ideas, any build concepts or any cool stories involving heavily-armored i’d really like to hear them down in the comments beneath and i know everyone else checking out to it as well. That being said, thank you so much guys and as always a happy adventuring.
