Tomb of Levistus 5E Invocation

Hello warlocks of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 41st episode of our eldritch invocations series Today we’re going to be taking a look at one of the coolest and boldest thematic moves a warlock can make using an invocation.

Today we’re going to be taking a look at tomb of levistus dnd 5e this is probably as grand as it sounds in all honesty i really like this one. There’s a lot of components to it but when you simplified it’s actually pretty simple. In any case let’s take a look at the description here and see what we’re talking about. Also read incapacitated 5e.

Description

First and foremost there is a prerequisite and that is yet you have to be at least fifth level. Which kind of makes sense given the grand nature of this. But in any case is still super good because it’s actually stacks with your level. And for the record that means five warlock levels not five total character levels so just please bear that in mind. The description reads as followed. Apart from this you can also read levistus 5e.

As a reaction when you take damage, you can entomb yourself in ice, which melts away at the end of your next turn. You gain 10 temporary hit points per warlock level, which take as much of the triggering damage as possible.

Immediately after you take the damage, you gain vulnerability to fire damage, your speed is reduced to 0, and you are incapacitated. These effects, including any remaining temporary hit points, all end when the ice melts. Once you use this invocation, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

How cool is that honestly so rightous. In any case let’s break it down a little bit and just simplify this as best as we can. Also read cold rules 5e.

Overview

Essentially it reads as followed: When you know you’re about to take damage, you can use your reaction. Ice surrounds you until your next turn, which has 10 temp HP per warlock level. After you take the damage you are vulnerable to fire, speed is zero, and you are incapacitated until the ice ends at the end of your next turn. When that goes away all your temporary hit points to as well. So pretty cool stuff! there’s a couple things worth noting here and that the biggest one is that you can’t maintain concentration. Incapacitated is also being defined as you can take actions or reactions as well. You can also check out this barbarian dnd names.

So for the most part you can’t really do too much. I mean technically speaking you might be able to do a bonus action, right because it just specifies actions or reactions but so there’s a pair really well with spiritual weapon at all honesty, because it’s not concentration and it only needs bonus actions to be able to do its thing. So that’s probably the best spell that synergizes with this. Also read this how many undead can a necromancer control 5e.
