Warding Bond 5E Spell

Hello spellcasters of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 75th episode of our second level spell series. Today we’re going to be taking a look at a very cool spell that i’ve seen used quite a bit to various degrees of effectiveness. But today we’re gonna take a look at 5E Warding bond.Ultimately i love this spell, i think it’s great so unbelievably cool.

It is usable by the cleric, crown paladins and battle smith artificers as so far as to say it’s found exclusively on their spell lists. And it is found in the good old players handbook, so everyone of them has access to it. Now let’s take a quick look at the mechanics here so we can understand exactly what we’re talking about.

Mechanics

  • Level: 2nd
  • Casting Time: 1 Action
  • Range/Area: Touch
  • Components: V, S, M *
  • Duration: 1 Hour
  • School: Abjuration
  • Attack/Save: None
  • Damage/Effect: Buff

The effect at a glance is as followed: Target a willing creature. While within 60 feet you both gain +1 to AC and saves. have resistance to all damages and share damage. That it doesn’t mean you’re splitting damage so if they take 4 damage you also take 4 damage since that works.

The cast time is one action, the range is touch, the duration is one hour and the components are the holy trinity verbal, material and somatic. If you’re curious about that material component it is a pair of platinum rings worth at least 50 gold piece each. Which you and the target must wear for the duration. And the school is abjuration which makes sense because you’re kind of protecting people. So yeah, now without further ado let’s take a quick look at the full description here and break the spell down a little bit further.

Description

This spell wards a willing creature you touch and creates a mystic connection between you and the target until the spell ends. While the target is within 60 feet of you, it gains a +1 bonus to AC and saving throws, and it has resistance to all damage. Also, each time it takes damage, you take the same amount of damage.

The spell ends if you drop to 0 hit points or if you and the target become separated by more than 60 feet. It also ends if the spell is cast again on either of the connected creatures. You can also dismiss the spell as an action. * – (a pair of platinum rings worth at least 50 gp each, which you and the target must wear for the duration)

Very interesting stuff! Once again i actually really like this one, i’ve seen it used so many times to great degrees and effectiveness. That being said, let’s take a look at some alternative uses here. Can you answer this what happens if two people cast warding bond on each other?.

Alternative Uses

So one of the best i’ve seen is using it to protect squishier individuals namely NPCs that you need to keep safe. That +1 bonus to AC really helps and the resistance to all damages is a no brainer in terms of effectiveness. That being said, this is also a great spell to use if you’re going through a trap laden dungeon nd you happen to know that one of the squishier members of your party didn’t really start well for that kind of thing so.

This is a great way of really helping out their survivability more at the same time ensuring that they’ll be around when the battle shows up. So it helps preserve action economy in that regard. Don’t miss this can warding bond break concentration?.

Another great way to use this is if there’s a one-on-one altercation and it doesn’t look too good for your ally. Give them the spell, help them out a little bit naturally quite a bit and then just stand on the sidelines and give them emotional support that’s probably the best way to use this. Warding Bond Magic Item

I’d like to get some opinions on this 5e homebrew magic item so let me know in the below comment section. They are meant to be pretty powerful, as they are one of several similar items that are central to the story in the adventure.

Bracer’s of Warding

These are beautiful leather bracers with finely crafted brass accents and decorations. Brass shield symbols, one on each bracer, can be struck against each other to activate the bracers for 1 minute. This grants the following benefits:

  • +3 to AC (to max of 20) for 1 minute.
  • the wearer can touch another creature with one of the shield symbols and create a Warding Bond with that creature for a minute. Also check out this does warding bond stack with rage?

Can You Use Warding Bond on Yourself

Actually the answer is NO! You can not cast 5e warding bond on self, so you can’t target on yourself with this spell. Why because it needs two creatures so those creatures wearing that platinum ring each one, to create the spell effect. Just keep in mind that this spell is not a concentration spell too.

Conclusion

That being said, if you have any alternative ides, uses, stories, thoughts, questions, comments, concerns regarding one of this dnd bond spell then please put them down beneath in the comment section i really do appreciate it. Thank you so much everyone, i really do appreciate it and i hope you all have a great day and as always happy casting. Keep reading: zone of truth 5e | emboldening bond 5e | glyph of warding 5e |
