Warhorse 5E Find Steed

Hello adventurers of all shapes and sizes! Thank you so much for checking out the first episode of our find steed options series over here at my spellbook. We’ve already covered the rules surrounding mounted combat and we’ve already covered the find steed 5e spell so i’m just gonna quickly get all these articles out so you can have access to them and so we can talk about them a little bit. Don’t miss this warlock 5e.

Today we’re gonna be taking a look at warhorse 5e in particular. This is the go-to find steed for the most part, i haven’t seen a lot of people pick anything to the contrary, this is kind of like the owl from the find familiar spell, there’s not a lot of reasons not to go with this one, but we will talk about that in a little bit here. Before we do let’s check out its stats.

Stats

  • Large beast, unaligned
  • Armor Class: 11; Hit Points: 19 (3d10 + 3); Speed: 60 ft.
  • STR: 18 (+4)
  • DEX: 12 (+1)
  • CON: 13 (+1)
  • INT: 2 (-4)
  • WIS: 12 (+1)
  • CHA: 7 (-2)
  • Senses: Passive Perception 11
  • Languages —
  • Challenge: 1/2 (100 XP)
  • Trampling Charge: If the horse moves at least 20 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a hooves attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 14 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the horse can make another attack with its hooves against it as a bonus action.
  • Actions: Hooves. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) bludgeoning damage.

AC is gonna be 11 which isn’t terrible to be fair, Your hit points are 19 and that is determined by rolling 3d10 plus 3 and taking the average talk to your DM if you actually want to roll these though i always let people but once again DM call and the speed is 60 feet which is really impressive, especially because you can take the dash action while you’re mounting and get an impressive 120 feet. Once again check back on the combat rules regarding mounted combat just you’re a familiar. also read this who can use find steed?

Taking a look at their stats their strength +4, great stuff! When you’re determining carrying capacity as well it’s your strength score multiplied by 30, so 18 multiplied by 30 would give you your total carry capacity pounds bear that in mind. So Carrying capacity is actually 15 multiplied by your strength modifier.

Dexterity +1, con +1, intelligence by raw is -4 but if you’re using the find steed spell that gets boosted up to a six which is a minus two. So just be sure to factor that in. Wisdom is +1 and charisma is minus two. Do you know why is find steed so good?

Now taking a look at the senses you only have a pssive perception of 11 but gives a rate per say i mean it’s not terrible either i guess so take out the grain of salt. You can also check out this find greater steed 5e.

It does have an ability this will only be usable while you’re not riding it, so you’ll have to basically give it independece if that makes sense and it can do this so just bear that in mind. Don’t miss this war caster 5e.

It’s called Trampling Charge: So essentially after you move 20 feet in a straight line then hit it with your hooves attack, the target must succeed on a DC 14 strength save would be knocked prone and if it does get knocked prone you can use a bonus action to attack it again with your hooves. In terms of the hooves attack is + six to hit which is really great.

Reach of five feet which is just a standard melee attack and then on a hit that deals a 11 damage and that’s determined by 2d6 plus four and it is bludgeoning damage. Once again you can’t technically attack with this steed but it makes sense that you could prompt it to through that telepathic bond you get through the find steed spell, so that’s why i’m addressing it in this article. Lifting and Carrying:

Your Strength score determines the amount of weight you can bear. The following terms define what you can lift or carry.

Carrying Capacity: Your carrying capacity is your Strength score multiplied by 15. This is the weight (in pounds) that you can carry, which is high enough that most characters don’t usually have to worry about it.

Push, Drag, or Lift: You can push, drag, or lift a weight in pounds up to twice your carrying capacity (or 30 times your Strength score). While pushing or dragging weight in excess of your carrying capacity, your speed drops to 5 feet.

Size and Strength: Larger creatures can bear more weight, whereas Tiny creatures can carry less. For each size category above Medium, double the creature’s carrying capacity and the amount it can push, drag, or lift. For a Tiny creature, halve these weights.
