Is False Life a Good Spell

Hello magic casters of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 35th episode of our first level spell series. Are you a caster who’s you know kind of constantly going down in combat nor did you just roll incredibly poorly on your hit die. If that sounds like your character that i might look into this spell if i were you.

Today we’re going to be taking a look at dnd 5e false life spell this particular beauty is found in the players handbook and it is usable by the sorcerer, wizard and artificer. Is false life worth upcasting? and can you use false life multiple times? With that hyped up intro out of the way let’s take a look at the mechanics we kind of get how this works. Do not miss this false hydra 5e.

Mechanics

  • Level: 1st
  • Casting Time: 1 Action
  • Range/Area: Self
  • Components: V, S, M *
  • Duration: 1 Hour
  • School: Necromancy
  • Attack/Save: None
  • Damage/Effect: Healing

Your cast time is one action, the range is self, how long does false life last? the duration is an impressive one hour and the effect is as followed. Gain 1d4 + 4 temporary hit points. At higher levels, You can gain an extra 5 temporary hit points per spell slot level above first. Do not skip this fall damage 5e.

The components are somatic, material and verbal meaning you have to gesture with one hand speak forth an incantation and there is a material component as well. In this case it is a small amount of alcohol or distilled spirits. Don’t skip this what is the hardest monster in d&d.

Very cool stuff there and the school is necromancy which is pretty cool! With that out of the way let’s take a quick look at the full description here so we understand the wording. The description reads as followed. In any case do not miss this fallen aasimar 5e and does aid and false life stack?

Description

Bolstering yourself with a necromantic facsimile of life, you gain 1d4 + 4 temporary hit points for the duration.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you gain 5 additional temporary hit points for each slot level above 1st. * – (a small amount of alcohol or distilled spirits).

So you know not a whole lot there. Pretty easy to kind of wrap your head around. That being said, you know it’s pretty good for what it is. Let’s take a look at some alternative uses here. Let’s learn about the dnd pregnancy rules 5e. and also check out this can you make your own spells in d&d.

Alternative Uses

The best one i could really think of was circumstantial so let’s say you are fairly low on hit points as is fairly battered and bruised. A character within melee range of you and you need to escape and let’s assume for whatever reason the disengage action isn’t available to you. You may also like our blog post on worst magic items 5e.

Then that would be a perfect use for this spell, give you a little bit of temporary hit points just enough to maybe take a hit or two and then leave. I think that’s a fair and perfectly valid use for this and i feel like that’s how it’s more common use than not. In any case check out this what creature is immune to force damage 5e.
