Hello zoologists of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 66th episode of our beast series. Today we’re going to be taking a look at the OX. Which is kind of the better version of the donkey in more ways than not. Naturally they’re a lot bigger, naturally the’re going to be a lot stronger so but they’re both kind of farm hand kind of animals.
The OX is found in the volo’s guide to monsters and it is considered to be cr one quarter and that’s you 50 experience points on a kill. Now let’s take a look at its stats here.
Best OX DnD 5E Stats
- Type: Large beast, unaligned
- Armor Class: 10
- Hit Points: 15 (2d10 + 4)
- Speed: 30 ft.
So OX is considered to be a large beast that is unaligned. It has an AC of 10, 15 hit points, calculated by rolling 2d10 and adding four. And a speed of 30 feet. Now let’s take a look at its actual stats here.
OX DnD 5E Stats
- STR: 18 (+4)
- DEX: 10 (+0)
- CON: 14 (+2)
- INT: 2 (-4)
- WIS: 10 (+0)
- CHA: 4 (-3)
- Senses: Passive Perception 10
- Languages: —
- Challenge: 1/4 (50 XP)
You’ll notice he’s ridiculously strong, netting in a plus four modifier to strength, plus two to constitution as well and outside of that he’s pretty standard for a beast. He only has one one sense and that is a passive perception of 10. Now let’s take a quick look at his other traits here.
Other Traits
- Charge: If the ox moves at least 20 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with a gore attack on the same turn, the target takes an extra 7 (2d6) piercing damage.
- Beast of Burden: The oxen is considered to be a Huge animal for the purpose of determining its carrying capacity.
Which is pretty cool and of itself. Now let’s take a quick moment here and check out its gore attack. Also check out what is the carrying capacity in 5e?.
Actions
- Gore: Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4) piercing damage.
That being said, i just really like him. I think it’s cool. Once again i probably have him as more of a background farmhand kind of animal but if you mess with the OX you get the horns i guess. I don’t know, very cool though. Don’t miss these articles bull 5e | oxen 5e | musk ox 5e | giant ox 5e |
Conclusion
That being said, let me know how you would use them in your game down beneath in the comment section. Also mention any questions, comments or concerns you may have down there as well. That being said, i hope you all have a great day and as always happy researching.
