Giant Lizard DnD 5E Monster

Hello zoologists of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 60th episode of our beast series. Today we’re taking a look at the Giant Lizard DnD 5E. This is exciting ish in the way that there’s a variant version of it that we’re also gonna be going over. So it is kind of cool in that regard but not very exciting for the most part. At least that’s just my opinion but let’s get on to its stats so we can talk about the actual piece itself and you can come your own conclusion.

Giant Lizard DnD 5E Stat Block

  • Type: Large beast, unaligned
  • Armor Class: 12 (Natural Armor)
  • Hit Points: 19 (3d10 + 3)
  • Speed: 30 ft., climb 30 ft.

So giant lizard is considered to be a large beast that is unaligned. AC of 12 and 19 hit points which is actually pretty decent, calculated by rolling 3d10 and adding three, normal speed of 30 feet and a climb speed of 30 feet as well. Now let’s take a look at its actual stats.

  • STR: 15 (+2)
  • DEX: 12 (+1)
  • CON: 13 (+1)
  • INT: 2 (-4)
  • WIS: 10 (+0)
  • CHA: 5 (-3)
  • Senses: Darkvision 30 ft., Passive Perception 10
  • Languages:
  • Challenge: 1/4 (50 XP)

You’ll see he’s quite strong plus two strength, plus one to dexterity and plus one to con so it’s quite well roundned. You got a minus four to intelligence, 0 modifier and wisdom and a minus three to charisma which of course makes sense. Taking a look at his senses you’ll see a darkvision of 30 feet and a passive perception of 10 which is okay. Now let’s get on to his actions here. Don’t miss this giant subterranean lizard 5e.

  • Bite: Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d8 + 2) piercing damage.

He only has one action and that is the bite attack. It is a melee weapon attack +4 to hit, reach of five feet, 1 target and deals six piercing damage on a hit. Calculated by rolling 1d8 and adding two. Now once again i’m not particularly impressed by the giant lizard and its base form at least the variant that we’re gonna cover in the next article is quite a bit better.

But it’s okay if it wasn’t for the hit points and the size i guess i’d have a really hard time putting it into the cr one quarter category, but you know whatever i mean i guess it’s tatted pretty good, it might make an interesting mount although i’d hold out for the very inversion once again.

A giant lizard can be ridden or used as a draft animal. Lizardfolk also keep them as pets, and subterranean giant lizards are used as mounts and pack animals by drow, duergar, and others.

Some giant lizards have one or both of the following traits. Hold Breath. The lizard can hold its breath for 15 minutes. (A lizard that has this trait also has a swimming speed of 30 feet.) Spider Climb. The lizard can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.

Let me know how you’d use it in your games, i’m always curious to hear from you guys. That being said, i hope you all have great day and as always happy researching. Also check out this giant spider 5e.
