Hello zoologists of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 11th episode of our beast series. Today we’re going to be taking a look at one of my personal favorite beasts and familiars. May i introduce to you the humble frog monster dnd. This is also technically the toad as well by the way kind of a twofer as it were so needs the same stats for both.
The frog creature dnd is found in the dungeon master’s guide, phb in a ton of other books so it’s not too hard to find them and it is considered to be cr0 that is to mean it’s no real challenge for parties and you get 10 experience points should you kill it. Now looking at the stats here.
Frog Monster DnD 5E Stat Block
- Type: Tiny beast, unaligned
- Armor Class: 11
- Hit Points: 1 (1d4 – 1)
- Speed: 20 ft., swim 20 ft.
It is considered to be a tiny beast and it is unaligned. Its armor class is 11. It has one hit point calculated by rolling 1d4 with a minus one modifier and if you ask me how fast are frogs in d&d? then its speed is both 20 feet walking and 20 feet of swimming. Once again you can only move to the highest number of one of those so just bear that in mind. So 20 feet of total movement essentially. Now taking a look at its actual stats here.
Frog Monster DnD 5E Stats
- STR: 1 (-5)
- DEX: 13 (+1)
- CON: 8 (-1)
- INT: 1 (-5)
- WIS: 8 (-1)
- CHA: 3 (-4)
You’ll notice it is quite one of the weakest dnd monsters and quite stupid boasting a minus five modifier and both strength and intelligence sounds i’m not very charismatic the only thing it really does i have going for is dexterity which is a plus one. So not super great but thematically i just love these guys. Also read who are the frog people in d&d?
Skills
- Perception +1, Stealth +3
Taking a look at their skills you can see +1 to perception and +3 to stealth thank goodness.
Senses
- Darkvision: 30 ft.,
- Passive Perception: 11
- Languages —
- Challenge: 0 (10 XP)
Under senses you can see 30 feet of darkvision which is great and have passive perception of 11 which is kind of meh. Now let’s take a look at other traits. Do you know what are the froglike monsters in d&d?
Other Traits
- Amphibious: The frog can breathe air and water.
- Standing Leap: The frog’s long jump is up to 10 feet and its high jump is up to 5 feet, with or without a running start.
Under other traits however it has Amphibious which lets it breathe both air and water and has standing leap so the long jump is considered to be a 10 feet and it’s high jump is 5 feet with or without a running start which is quite incredible. I love these as familiars because they can often get into harder to reach places quite easily and i just think they’re kind of fun to use. You can also check out this strongest d&d monster.
That being said, they really are hard to fold into campaigns in the way that they don’t have any actions or attacks or anything of that nature and their movement isn’t particularly impressive. You can make an argument that there’s stealthy and they can hide underwater and stuff but outside of that i really do struggle how to incorporate these into games at least as they are right here. You can also read this giant frog monster dnd 5e.
Description
A frog has no effective attacks. It feeds on small insects and typically dwells near water, in trees, or underground. The frog’s statistics can also be used to represent a toad. In any case you can also check out this bullywug 5e.
Conclusion
That being said, if you have any ideas on how to incorporate them into your game please let me know down beneath also be sure to mention any questions, comments, concerns or other ideas you may have i really do appreciate it. That being said, i hope you all have a wonderful day and as always happy studying. Don’t miss this froghemoth 5e.
