Eagle DnD 5E Monster

Hello zoologists of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 9th episode of our beast series. Today we are going to be taking a look at the majestic, the grateful, the king of the skies, the eagle dnd 5e monster familiar ladies and gentlemen.

The eagles found in the dungeon master’s guide phb and a couple the other books out there and that is a cr0 monster which means you get 10 experience if you kill it. Pretty good stuff. I really love the eagle this however is a tragic example of wizards of the coast, not really having a good understanding of animals but whatever. That being said, let’s take a quick look at its mechanics here so you can understand what we’re talking about.

DnD 5E Eagle Stat Block

  • Type: Small beast, unaligned
  • Armor Class: 12
  • Hit Points: 3 (1d6)
  • Speed: 10 ft., fly 60 ft.

So they consider the eagle to be a small beast and it is unaligned as most beasts are. I think it should be a little bit bigger maybe even a medium just because i know eagles can get pretty massive but that is beside the point. Its armor class is a 12, it’s hit point is three calculated by the role of a raw d6, it’s speed is 10 feet walking, but how fast can an eagle fly 5e? a fly speed of 60 feet which is pretty impressive. Now let’s take a look at its actual stats.

Eagle DnD 5E Monster Stats

  • STR: 6 (-2)
  • DEX: 15 (+2)
  • CON: 10 (+0)
  • INT: 2 (-4)
  • WIS: 14 (+2)
  • CHA: 7 (-2)
  • Skills: Perception +4
  • Senses: Passive Perception 14
  • Languages:
  • Challenge: 0 (10 XP)
  • Keen Sight: The eagle has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight. Actions

You notice a higher than average dexterity and wisdom so it’s quite fluid in the air and it’s quite wise as well, which is pretty cool! It’s skill it has a +4 to perception which is awesome. Do you know how do you calculate monster hit points?

Which makes its passive perception of 14 which is very cool! It also get keen sight which gives it advantage of perception checks that rely on sight and that makes sense because as you know eagles have notoriously good vision. Now let’s take a quick look at its actions here of which it only has one and that is its talons attack. Would you also like to read what is the aspect of the beast eagle?

Actions:

Talons: It is Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach of 5 ft., it can only target one creature. and it deals 4 damage on a hit for slashing damage to be more precise and that is calculated by a d4 and adding 2 to it. Very cool stuff!

Conclusion

That being said, i couldn’t really see this playing out in a lot of scenarios i think this is a great spy animal to have for a wizard familiar or druid very nice stuff just cruising in high altitude, wathcing the party keeping tabs on them. That’s how i imagine this best being used.

That being said, if you have any alternative ways to use it, any thoughts, ideas or questions please put it down beneath in the comment section, i really do appreciate it. That being said, i hope you all have a wonderful day and as always happy studying my friends.
