Hello spellcasters of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out 14th episode of our find familiar options series. Today we’re going to be taking a look at the dnd 5e spider familiar stats the ultimate creepy crawly.
Honestly i really love this, this has a lot of the same benefits as the rat. Without all of the drawbacks to it, honestly it fits super well with necromancers for sure, but any wizard can take great use of this. That being said, let’s check out its stats. - Armor Class: 12; Hit Points: 1 (1d4 – 1); Speed: walk 20 ft., climb 20 ft.
- STR: 2 (-4)
- DEX: 14 (+2)

- INT: 1 (-5)
- WIS: 10 (+0)
- CHA: 2 (-4)
- Skills: Stealth +4
- Senses: Darkvision 30 ft., Passive Perception 10

- Spider Climb: The spider can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.
- Web Sense: While in contact with a web, the spider knows the exact location of any other creature in contact with the same web.
- Web Walker: The spider ignores movement restrictions caused by webbing.
- Actions Bite: Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 1 piercing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 9 Constitution saving throw or take 2 (1d4) poison damage.
First and foremost AC of 12 so not the worst, not the best kind of right there in the middle. Hit point of one which is caused by die four subtracted by their con modifier so i’d roll it why not. Their walk speed is 20 feet and they have 20 speed of climb speed too so pretty cool there makes sense for spider. You can also check out this 5e spider monsters.
Now looking at their stats…you’ll notice that they’re not completely overwhelmingly impressive. They got good dex, they got +2 to dex and they got zero to wisdom which is fine i mean a lot of familiars are like this. That is okay! You may also interested in how big is a tiny spider in 5e?
Skills though is where it really starts to stand though. So first and foremost it has a stealth of plus four which is super great. Now honestly that puts it in the perfect place to do a lot of reconnaissance stuff of that nature. Do you know is there a spider race in d&d?
I really just love it. Now looking at its passive perception sadly it only has ten so not very great there. It does have darkvision go up to 30 feet so it’s worth having this little guy on your shoulder and perceived through his senses if you’re in a dark environment. That’d be really great.
They do also have quite a couple abilities you can pick from here. First and foremost spider climb allows you to climb basically anywhere including upside down without making a check for it which is great for those recon missions.
Web sense so while in contact with a web, it kind of knows everything in contact with it which is super great as well and a web walker which basically makes it ignore the movement restrictions caused by webbing. Really good! What i really about this is it opens up the door to setting traps more effectively, this would be a great one for a rogue who picked the magic initiate feat or arcane trickster and decided to grab one of the dnd 5e spider familiar spells that is find familiar.
You could easily set door traps with this just because you and you’re familiar can communicate telepathically so there it opens up a lot. Needless to say, this is one of my favorite familiars mechanically and thematically i think it makes a lot of sense for a lot of characters. You can also check out this fey spider dnd 5e.
