Abyssal Chicken 5E Familiar

Hello magic casters of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 26th episode of our find familiar series. This is probably the one a lot of you have been waiting for, thinking of you in particular marcos who has been reminding me of this essentially since i started to find familiar series.

So can an abyssal chicken be a familiar? Today we’re gonna be taking a look at the baldur’s gate descent into a verner kiss familiar that’s right ladies and gentlemen we’re taking a look at the abyssal chicken dnd 5e ( 🙂 are abyssal chickens edible?) which isn’t your traditional chicken as you can tell by the picture. So the way this guy works actually still a point little triangle part, those are actually wings in their resting position and what it decides to kind of fly those come apart and turn into leathery kind of bat wings almost.

Really weird-looking thing reminds me of the monsters in riddick actually, really cool stuff! That being said, let’s take a look at it’s stats and see how good this guy really is.

Abyssal Chicken 5E Stats

  • ABYSSAL CHICKEN: Tiny fiend (demon), chaotic evil
  • Armor Class: 13 (natural armor)
  • Hit Points: 10 (3d4 +3)
  • Speed: Walk 30ft., fly 30ft.(see Bad Flier below)
  • STR: 6 (-2)
  • DEX: 14 (+2)
  • CON: 13 (+1)
  • INT: 4 (-3)
  • WIS: 9(-1)
  • CHA: 5(-3)
  • Damage Resistances: cold, fire, lightning
  • Damage Immunities: poison
  • Condition Immunities: blinded, poisoned
  • Senses: blindsight 30ft. (blind beyond this radius), passive Perception 9
  • Languages: understands Abyssal but can’t speak.

It’s considered a tiny fiend and it is chaotic evil which kind of makes sense. It has AC of 13 which is one the higher end, it has 10 health which is also on the higher end. It can walk 30 feet and fly 30 feet which is pretty good! Looking at its stats it has +2 to dex, +1 to con and negatives to everything else which isn’t that great.

It has blindsight of 30 feet but it is blind beyond that radius and a passive perception of nine which ins’t that great at all. It has damage resistances to cold, fire and lightning which is awesome. Damage immunities to poison and the condition immunities to blinded and poisoned as well. You can also understand abyssal but it can’t speak it which makes sense because it’s a chicken. Now let’s take a look at its other traits.

  • Bad Flier: The abyssal chicken falls at the end of a turn if it’s airborne and the only thing holding it aloft is its flying speed.

ACTIONS:

  • Multiattack: The abyssal chicken makes two attacks: one with its bite and one with its claws.
  • Bite: Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature.
  • Hit: 4 (1d4+2) piercing damage.
  • Claws: Melee WeaponAttack:+4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6+2)slashing damage.

It has bad flier so it falls at the end of its turn if it’s airborne and the only thing holding it aloft as its flying speed. So at the end of each turn of falls basically. The actions are multi attack you can actually make two attacks as one action which is awesome. It also has one bite and one claw attack, the bite attack is +4 to hit and deals four damage and the claw attack is also +4 to hit and deals five damage. It’s a pretty cool stuff!

I really do like the abyssal chicken stats 5e, i would certainly allow it as a warlock pick for sure and as a quest reward, i would also allow it as just a regular day-to-day familiar. Its stats aren’t that great as a quick reminder, certainly not in comparison to something like the owl or the octopus or anything like that but it’s not bad and i think i was a lot of flavor to it so it’s kind of a cute ugly as because the wizards put it so i mean i can get behind that.

Conclusion

That being said guys, thank you so much for checking out today, i really do appreciate it. This is actually gonna be the last episode of the core familiars. We got one more variant familiar to cover and that’d be about it. That being said, i hope you all have a great day and as always happy casting. As well as any comments, thoughts, concerns regarding the abyssal chicken familiar i’d really like to hear them down in the comments below, thank you so much guys.
